“All that is clear is that a suite of cyberattacks seem to be responsible, for the first time, for stirring up a geo-political conflict on a truly international level.”
Is it just me, or does this feel epochal to anyone else? The rules are changing, or perhaps becoming clearer in light of recent events, and two stubborn rivals (not to touch on the characteristics of the rivalry) are...

“Western countries have long indoctrinated non-Western nations on the issue of freedom of speech. It is an aggressive political and diplomatic strategy, rather than a desire for moral values, that has led them to do so. The free flow of information is an universal value treasured in all nations, including China, but the US government’s ideological imposition is unacceptable and, for that...

“It’s even more surprising how ascetic and disciplined the band is when it comes to presenting information… You don’t think of people this young being masters of restraint, but the album works like a visit to the optometrist, with instruments dropping in and out every four or eight bars: Is that clearer? How about that? How about now?”

Holy cow! I can make them! Whoa! In high school, when I was first trying to get into cooking for myself—baking wasn’t as central as it has since become—I became interested in making croissants….

Here is a link to my friend Ben’s recent update. His comments articulate some of my own thoughts about language, but succeed better than I have managed before in clarity and concision. Brazil was a…

Huh.
On my way to Spain (a mere four days ago) I began writing a story about an urban wanderer who stumbles onto the shy gateways through the cosmos. I think I might need this.
The story has a bit of inspiration from Lovecraft’s Dreams in the Witch-House, but will more or less lack the weird and macabre subject material to which he is so fascinated.

So, I created a Tumblr account. All posts on this blog will end up there, but this blog will remain for the more prosaic types of posts. What Tumblr allows/supports/does is allow me to link/post/reblog various other forms of media (music, photos, quotes, etc.) and doing so quickly and easily from my iTouch if I so choose. I have attempted to synthesize my Google Reader with Blogger, but it...

Philosophy that Bakes Bread: When In Spain: Report...
A windstorm blows outside and I have already had to barricade a window that broke. Up until I heard it break, I had not touched it in the least. It acts as a painful reminder of the door that shattered on me in Brazil in my host-family’s home. This, at least, was not my fault. It does say a little something about Spanish design, at least in Castellon. In the apartment, the floors are nearly...
